Your Dental Implant Process—Clear, Comfortable, Step by Step
From your first consultation to your final restoration, we’ll guide you through each phase with comfort-focused care, modern planning, and a personalized timeline.
What to expect
The 4 phases of implant treatment
Every smile is different, but most implant cases follow a predictable sequence. We’ll explain your options, answer questions, and coordinate each step so you always know what’s next.
1) Consultation & 3D planning
We review your health history, take images as needed, and discuss goals (single tooth, bridge, or full-arch). You’ll leave with a clear plan, estimated timeline, and next steps.
2) Implant placement
The implant (a small titanium post) is placed precisely in the jawbone using modern techniques focused on comfort and safety. We’ll review aftercare and what to expect during healing.
3) Healing & integration
Over the next several weeks to months, the implant integrates with the bone. If needed, we can discuss temporary tooth options so you can feel confident while you heal.
4) Final restoration
Once healed, we design and place your custom crown, bridge, or full-arch restoration—crafted for a natural look, comfortable bite, and long-term function.

Common implant treatment paths
Your plan may include one or more of these steps depending on your needs, bone support, and the type of restoration you choose.
Single-tooth implant
Replace one missing tooth with a natural-looking crown supported by an implant.
Implant-supported bridge
Replace multiple teeth without relying on adjacent teeth for support.
All-on-4 / full-arch
A streamlined option to replace an entire arch with a stable, fixed restoration.
Bone grafting (if needed)
Build a stronger foundation when bone volume needs support for long-term stability.
Extractions & site prep
Remove damaged teeth and prepare the area for predictable healing and placement.
Temporary teeth options
Discuss interim solutions so you can smile confidently while your implant heals.
Implant process FAQs
Have questions about timing, comfort, or next steps? Here are a few common questions we hear during implant consultations.
How long does the implant process take?
Many cases take a few months from consultation to final restoration, depending on healing time and whether additional steps (like extractions or grafting) are needed. We’ll outline your expected timeline at your visit.
Does implant placement hurt?
Most patients are surprised by how manageable it is. We use comfort-focused techniques and provide clear aftercare instructions. You can expect some soreness afterward, but it’s typically well controlled with recommended medications and rest.
Am I a candidate for implants?
If you’re missing one or more teeth and want a long-term solution, you may be a candidate. We’ll evaluate your health history, bone support, and goals to recommend the safest, most predictable option.
What if I’ve been missing teeth for a long time?
You still may have great options. When teeth have been missing for a while, bone changes can occur—so we may discuss grafting or full-arch solutions designed to restore function and support.
Can I get teeth the same day?
In some situations, temporary teeth may be placed the same day as surgery, especially for certain full-arch cases. We’ll let you know what’s realistic and safe for your specific situation.
How do I pay for implants?
We’ll review financing and insurance considerations during your consultation and help you understand your options. You can also visit our Financing & Insurance page for details.
